The initiative to replace the facade of the Kútvölgyi street's building dates back many years, but the 80-year-old structure's poor condition also required strengthening. As a consequence, the facade cladding installation also called for a new, unconventional solution. So a slab-to-slab fixed supporting structure was chosen, building a new facade in front of the existing one, which could not support the additional weight. This was done bearing in mind the need to maintain the appearance of the previous stone cladding. A special joinery design was used at the corners of the Kerlite cladding and in the framing of the windows and doors, so that the 5.5 mm thick ceramic tile gives the effect of 3 cm thick stone slabs. This project is unique both for the special solutions we have come up with and for the short timeframe.
